PITTSBURGH --- Carlow University men's soccer looked to make a late comeback behind two goals from Hunter Brady but lost a 3-2 AMCC contest to Pitt Bradford at Highmark Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Brady (Wrightsville, Pa./Eastern York HS) landed his first goal at 50' when Nico Bel (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Florida SouthWestern State College) sent a long free kick into the box that Brady headed into the net.
Konner Sayre (Meadville, Pa./Meadville Area Senior HS) assisted on Brady's second goal in the 71st minute that he took top shelf inside the 18 to cut Pitt Bradford's advantage to 3-2.
Still trailing late in the game, Gavin Moore (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills HS) hit the crossbar at 75' and a header by Eric Fowler (Torrington, Conn./Wamogo Regional HS/Roger Williams University) at 80' was smothered by the keeper. Logan Alexander (Manchester Twp., N.J./Manchester Township HS) took Carlow's final shot of the night, a header in the final minute that went high.
Alex Remington (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park HS) suffered the loss in goal, stopping four shots in the first half. Zac Kolich (Enon Valley, Pa./Blackhawk HS/Pittsburgh Technical College) saved three shots in the second half.
The Panthers (1-9, 1-2 AMCC) picked up their first win of the season after marking two goals within the first minute of action. Bradford landed its next goal at 35' to take a 3-0 lead into halftime, but the Celtics (2-8, 0-3 AMCC) kept the Panthers off the board the remainder of the game.
The teams were otherwise evenly matched with 19 shots and seven corner kicks apiece on the afternoon.
Prior to the match, the Celtics celebrated five seniors for Senior Day.
